Students are given full access to our materials when they register on the course so they can dive straight in to our materials which will help them prepare for the course and get the most out of it. \nWho should attend?\n\n\n\n\nThose who want to upskill and develop electrical knowledge in order to pursue a career in a production environment or industrial maintenance personnel who would like to increase their electrical troubleshooting skills. You do not need to be formally qualified as an electrician to do this course. So\, whether you are starting a career in industrial maintenance\, or you are already engaged in maintenance of equipment systems but want to develop your skills further\, this training course is ideal for you. \nCorrect diagnosis of electrical systems faults saves time and money in the long run. And\, effective troubleshooters add great value to the organisation they work for. Learning to work safely with electrical equipment is central to the course and qualification means that you have demonstrated your competence as required in Health and Safety legislation. This internationally-recognised qualification will present opportunities to work in diverse areas within the manufacturing environment carrying out the diagnosing and repair/replacement of components. \n\nObjectives\nTo enable maintenance staff to be effective in the use of preventative and corrective maintenance strategies when working on modern industrial electrical systems and components. At the end of the Industrial Electrical Systems course the participants will be able to: \n\nTest electrical systems to narrow down a problem area.\nIdentify hazards and perform duties in a way that minimises potential accidents\nUse electrical schematics to navigate a system effectively.\nCarry out LOTO procedures correctly.\nExplain how circuit protection devices work and are activated by equipment faults.\nCompetently use multi-meters and grip-on meters to test systems.\nTest 3-phase motor circuits controlled by contactors and overloads.\nTroubleshoot a range of common faults on work- based technology.\n\n\n\n\n\nCourse modules\n1. Electrical concepts & units\n\nElectrical characteristics of conductors and insulators\nThe behaviour of voltage (V)\, current (I)\, and resistance (R) in circuits\nUsing Ohm’s law to predict circuit behaviour\nUsing a multimeter to measure V\, I\, and R\nKirchoff’s current law\nVoltages and currents at different points in circuits\nFaulty components and open or short circuits\nCorrect specification language to describe switchgear in terms of poles and throws\n\n2. Electrical safety awareness\n\nPotential hazards associated with electrical equipment\nAppropriate precautions for different scenarios\nHow electricity affects the human body\nWhen it is necessary to work LIVE\nFault types and circuit protection types\nWhy and when LOTO is required\nProcedures for working on equipment LIVE and de-energised\n\n3. Circuit construction & troubleshooting\n\nConstruct and test circuits using common components including safety relays\nSystematic approach to troubleshooting faults\nUsing a multimeter to narrow to a fault area\nBuilding and testing relay latching circuits\nCorrect terminology and recognising switchgear poles based on their universal numbering system\nWire\, test\, and troubleshoot safety relays\n\n4. 3-phase & motor control circuits\n\n3-phase power generation\nTaking 3-phase multimeter readings\nPrinciples of induction motors\, motor poles and RPM\, star and delta wiring\nUnderstanding resistance readings to deduce condition of motor windings\nTroubleshooting forward and reverse 3-phase motor circuits\nTaking motor current readings and comparing to expected values\n\n5. Navigating electrical schematics to troubleshoot\n\nUsing schematics to see how power is distributed\nInterpreting symbols and navigating both US and EU drawings\nUsing electrical schematics to effectively troubleshoot\n\n\nTest electrical systems to narrow down a problem area.\nIdentify hazards and perform duties in a way that minimises potential accidents\nUse electrical schematics to navigate a system effectively.\nCarry out LOTO procedures correctly.\nExplain how circuit protection devices work and are activated by equipment faults.\nCompetently use multi-meters and grip-on meters to test systems.\nTest 3-phase motor circuits controlled by contactors and overloads.\nTroubleshoot a range of common faults on work- based technology.\n\n\n\n\n\nPre-Requisite\n\n\n\n\nNo previous formal qualification is required but learners should have relevant work or life experience to have reached the standards of knowledge\, skill and competence associated with Level 5 of the National Framework of Qualifications. If you would like to assess your entry level knowledge\, relative to course content\, please contact us and we can set you up with a free trial on our e-learning platform \nExamination\nExamination 1: 40% of overall mark \nExamination 2: 30% of overall mark \nSkills demonstration based on reading drawings\, building\, and troubleshooting circuits: 30% of overall mark. \nThe pass mark for all assessments is 50%. \nCertification: QQI Level 6 15 credits (minor award)\n  \nGet in touch and Book  your place: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nE: info@industry4skillnet.com\nT: 0858675275\n  \nEnquire Now
