AI MASTERY for Industry

Construction, Manufacturing and Quarry

Who should attend:

This course is built for technical and commercial decision-makers in construction, manufacturing, engineering and quarrying SMEs. Typical attendees include:

  • Project managers and site managers running programmes, budgets and crews.
  • Quantity surveyors and estimators pricing work and protecting margin.
  • Process, maintenance and asset-integrity engineers responsible for plant uptime.
  • Plant managers, quarry managers and operations leads accountable for throughput.
  • Commercial managers handling contracts, claims and supplier performance.
  • Directors and business owners deciding where to invest in AI next.

Why this course:

Industry 4.0 is no longer a slide deck. Construction, manufacturing, engineering and quarrying SMEs are under real pressure to deliver more output, with tighter margins, fewer skilled people, and harder compliance requirements. AI is the tool that closes that gap, but only when it is applied to the problems you actually have.

AI Mastery for Industry is a hands-on, in-person workshop built around the work you do every day. Estimating jobs, running programmes, keeping sites safe, controlling commercial risk, and keeping plant running. Each module is a live demonstration on real industry data, not a vendor pitch and not a generic productivity talk.

Participants leave with practical tools, prompt packs and templates they can apply to live projects the next morning. No prior AI experience is required. The course is delivered in person by experienced engineers, with materials and accreditation aligned to your CPD requirements.

Working with Claude and Excel

This is a hands-on workshop. Every module runs as a live demonstration using Claude connected to Microsoft Excel. Excel is already where construction, manufacturing and quarrying SMEs keep cost data, schedules, incident logs and plant readings. Claude reads those spreadsheets, finds patterns the eye misses, generates formulas, and writes the reports your team currently builds by hand.

Participants work on prebuilt, anonymised industrial datasets supplied during the course. Sample bills of quantities, programme schedules, safety incident logs, contract clauses and compressor performance data. You apply AI to the same kinds of files you handle every week, not abstract examples.

No coding is required. Everything is driven through plain-English prompts and standard Excel features. You leave with the datasets, the prompt templates and the working files, so the techniques transfer straight into your own projects.

Course content:

The course follows the lifecycle of an industrial project. From estimating and planning, through site delivery and commercial control, into operating and maintaining the plant that drives output.

The Five Modules:

1. AI for Cost Estimation and BOQ Analysis

This module introduces the core AI concepts that underpin the entire course, then applies them directly to cost estimation. Participants learn how AI reads and analyses bills of quantities, benchmarks costs against historical data, and flags pricing anomalies. A live demonstration shows AI performing BOQ analysis and material price comparison in real time. The module also introduces an AI readiness scoring framework so participants can assess how prepared their own organisation’s data is for AI adoption.

2. AI for Scheduling and Programme Management

Static programmes fail to reflect what actually happens on site. This module shows how AI transforms scheduling from a fixed plan into a dynamic, data-driven process. Participants see how AI identifies critical path risks, predicts delays from historical patterns, and optimises resource allocation across project phases. The live demonstration models programme risk and delay scenarios using real scheduling data.

3. AI on Site: Safety, Progress Monitoring and Quality Control

This module shows how AI turns daily site data into faster, safer decisions. Participants see how AI analyses incident and near-miss logs to predict safety hotspots before they cause harm, how computer vision is being applied to PPE compliance and hazard detection, and how drone and site photography feed AI-driven progress tracking against the programme. The live demonstration applies AI to a real safety incident dataset and a progress report, producing the kind of daily site brief that supervisors and managers can act on without adding to their workload.

4. AI for Commercial Control, Contracts and Claims Management

Commercial risk is where margins are won or lost. This module demonstrates how AI scans construction and supply contracts, extracts and scores risk clauses, and supports negotiation by generating clause alternatives across different risk positions. Participants also see AI build supplier performance scorecards from procurement data and analyse historical claims to identify recurring dispute patterns. A vendor evaluation framework helps participants assess commercial AI tools critically before committing budget.

5. AI-Driven Plant Reliability: Compressor Health Monitoring

Bringing predictive maintenance into the workshop. Participants learn how to benchmark compressor performance against expected curves and detect efficiency loss early. They also learn how AI predicts degradation trends and generates operational recommendations that protect uptime in manufacturing, quarrying and process plant environments. The techniques shown apply directly to other rotating assets and utility plant.

Expected outcome, as a result you will leave with

  • A working AI workflow for BOQ analysis and cost benchmarking against historical data.
  • An AI-assisted programme review process that flags critical-path risks and delay patterns early.
  • Prompt packs and templates for AI-driven site safety, progress and quality reporting.
  • A contract risk-scoring approach and supplier performance scorecard your commercial team can reuse.
  • A predictive maintenance approach for compressors and rotating plant, transferable to other utility assets.
  • An AI readiness scorecard for your own organisation’s data and processes.
  • CPD-certified certificate, course workbook and bonus playbook.

Business outcomes you can expect

  • More accurate pricing on tenders, with anomalies caught before submission.
  • Fewer surprise delays and better defended programme extensions.
  • Faster, data-backed safety and quality reporting that frees supervisors for the work that matters.
  • Stronger commercial position on contracts, claims and supplier disputes.
  • Higher plant availability through earlier detection of degradation and efficiency loss.
  • A clear, defensible AI adoption path that satisfies boards, clients and regulators.
